Emily L. Rackow, M.A., TESOL

Founder & Bespoke ESL Educator

Emily L. Rackow is an educator, learning specialist, and language instructor with more than 20 years of experience helping children, adolescents, and young adults develop the communication, academic, and executive-function skills they need to thrive.

Emily Rackow's career began as a sign-language interpreter: an experience that shaped a lifelong fascination with language, communication, and the many different ways people process and express information. She went on to become a behavior analyst, specializing in evidence-based educational and behavioral interventions for children and young adults with autism, neurodivergence, and other developmental differences, ages 3–21.

During her work with the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD), Emily contributed to the development of receptive-language, expressive-language, and executive-function curricula, and was involved in research resulting in multiple professional publications. This work gave her a deeply individualized approach to teaching: rather than asking, “What should I teach?” she begins by asking, “How does this particular learner learn best?”

Emily holds a Master's degree in Special Education, a TESOL certification, and a minor in Jewish Studies. Her background also includes a strong foundation in Hebrew language, Jewish learning, and Torah study, giving her a unique appreciation for the relationship between language, culture, identity, and connection.

Emily has served as Parent Association President at Tarbut V'Torah (TVT) Community Day School, where she developed programming to strengthen connections between the school's Chinese and American communities, and as Director of KIDA, a school serving children with disabilities.

Today, Emily brings this unusually broad background to English Language Lab: a concierge-style English language practice designed around the individual learner. Combining decades of educational expertise with her passion for language and communication, Emily creates a highly personalized space where learners can practice English naturally, build confidence, and develop the skills to communicate with greater ease in the real world.
